Every day at 12:15 PM, the cracked asphalt of a typical middle school court transforms into an arena. On one side stand the "All-Stars"—athletically gifted, coordinated, and accustomed to winning. On the other stand the "Rejects"—a scrappy crew with scraped knees, mismatched gear, and an endless supply of stubborn heart. Between them sits the ultimate prize: a neon-pink lunch box overflowing with junk food, symbolizing schoolyard royalty.

This daily battle of grit versus grace is the heart of Lunch Box, a short film created in partnership with Fujifilm that captures the high-stakes drama hidden within everyday middle school recess.

To capture a story driven by competition, heart, and visual detail, Lunch Box brought together two distinct creative powerhouses as co-directors:

• Romeo Okwara: A former NFL defensive end who played eight seasons with the New York Giants and Detroit Lions, Romeo seamlessly transitioned from professional athletics to visual arts. A graduate of the prestigious Cranbrook Academy MFA program and an accomplished photographer, Romeo brings a rare combination of athletic discipline, emotional depth, and raw visual storytelling to the project.
• Sean Billings-Almendarez: An award-winning creative producer and NYU alumnus, Sean serves as Vice President of Creative Production at Global Strategy Group’s The L@B. Having produced content for major brands alongside outlets like Morning Brew, Newsweek, and 21st Century Fox, Sean’s narrative experience ensured the film’s pacing and heart resonated on every frame.

Shot in collaboration with Fujifilm, Lunch Box relies on rich color profiles and intimate cinematography to bring nostalgia, kinetic motion, and humor to the screen. Festival audiences and juries across the country have taken notice:
